Eliminate PC Downtime

Universal Metal Protection is an electro-plating company that attaches metal deposits onto other metal or plastic products for a protective and decorative effect, such as chrome plated bumpers on cars. Based in Auckland, they’re responsible for some of New Zealand’s biggest manufacturers, including Gallaghers and Fisher and Paykel.

Dennis Tomes, Technical Manager, is responsible for keeping the plant running, and also ensuring their IT components are running smoothly. Having eight computers connected to their server, they rely on their pcs for mainly accounting and production purposes. To ensure their pcs run smoothly and without viruses they use Telecom’s Computer Care to proactively monitor and manage their computer’s health – before damage occurs.

Before they used Computer Care, some viruses went undetected, and sometimes had to wait days before a technician was able to visit Universal Metal Protection. Dennis decided to change to Computer Care after discovering their back-up system had not been working for six months.

Since switching to Computer Care, Dennis is able to concentrate on his business as he has full confidence knowing that Computer Care is working busily behind the scenes to keep his computer system working safe and sound.

Telecom Computer Care came in and put a great deal of effort into rebuilding Universal Metal Protection’s system so it was backing up effectively, and installed a different version of the AGV anti-spam software that was suitable for their network, so fixed their ongoing spam issues at the same time.

Now that their systems are operating smoothly, Dennis gets a weekly report from Computer Care, and updates on any issues they have dealt with. All Computer’s Care work has been done remotely and overnight, so there’s been no need to have a technician in the office disrupting work.
